With the belief that music has the power to nurture healing in a broken world, Blue Lobelia blends classical and indie-folk influence to create ethereal soundscapes. Her debut album Perennial (2016) is “…an ebb and flow of sound — sometimes a sparkling brook, sometimes a tidal wave of different thoughts and feelings created by her innovative looping strings-and voice technique.” In 2017 the album saw three extensive cross-province tours and radio play on CHSR and CBC. In 2018, she completed two Artist Residencies and was chosen for NSCC’s Artist Development Program. Blue Lobelia’s latest release, Beneath all Bloom (2019), was named ‘2019’s Best Album’ by Halifax’s The Coast. It has been described as the auditory equivalent of, ‘walking through an enchanted forest’ or ‘a daydream you can dance to’. With strong themes of dreamscape, motherhood and mother earth, the project continues to showcase throughout the maritimes with past performances at Evolve, Paddlefest, Flourish, White Rabbit, Living Roots, Folly Fest and NSMW.
